Abstract:
Water Challenges Energywater nexus, Balancing supply with demand, Aging infrastructure, Complex water rights issues, Cost versus price imbalance, Water quality degradation. The Army is assessing 30-year water supply and demand for a sample of Army installations. The study was initiated in 2009 at Fort Bliss, TX and Fort Bragg, NC. It is now being applied to 10 domestic and 3 overseas installations. General observations We need the installation of more water meters Water rights may be limiting factors for some installations Climate change will exacerbate scarcity in arid regions and affect availability in historically wet regions We need an aggressive leak detection program and regional solutions.
