Abstract:

The National Guard Bureau faces an extraordinarily complex environment. Recent changes include the appointment of the Chief of the National Guard Bureau to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the new defense strategy, the continued evolution of the Profession of Arms, and the development of Joint Force 2020. Therefore, the ARNG directorate leadership must adopt a unique, focused leadership development program for the Title 10 T10 Active Guard Reserve AGR officers that creates a bench of next-generation talent. This new talent must be prepared to meet the challenges facing the ARNG and Joint Force 2020. The recommendations from this analysis will help to create a leader development program that delivers a competitive edge for the T10 AGR officer corps and ARNG directorate.
