Abstract:
In this third annual Army Sustainability Report 2010 ASR10, the Army describes its continued integration of sustainability into operations at all organizational levels. Among the major developments in 2009, the Army appointed the Under Secretary as the Army senior sustainability official, finalized the Army Energy Security Implementation Strategy AESIS and initiated development of the Army Sustainability Campaign Plan ASCP. To the Army, sustainability is a vastly complex concept it is an organizing principle that factors mission, environment, community and economic benefit into each of its decisions and activities. Training, equipping and supporting the Armys operations require land, resources and people. The demands of repeated overseas deployments have stretched and stressed the Army institution, support structures, systems and equipment. The Army continues to pursue sustainability strategies to meet current and future mission requirements worldwide, safeguard human health, improve the quality of life and enhance the natural environment.
