Abstract:

This paper examines the potential of using site diversity to mitigate fade associated with VW band satellite communications. Site diversity based on a log-normal distribution for rain attenuation is applied. Limitations due to cloud attenuation are considered. The site diversity methodology is extended to include cloud attenuation.
