This MURI program addressed integrated closed-loop control of flow and dynamic maneuvering for small UAVs without moving control surfaces. Forces and moments were varied using synthetic jet actuators to effect vorticity generationaccumulation near lifting surfaces, with sensing provided by surface-mounted pressure and flow-direction sensors, and a reduced-order model ROM of vorticity dynamics coupled to and integrated with a vehicle dynamics model in an adaptive control architecture.
