The long-term goal is to perform a realistic, fully eddy-resolving, wind-and buoyancy-forced numerical simulation of the North Atlantic basin with the Miami Isopycnic Coordinate Ocean Model MICOM Bleck and Chassignet, 1994 with data assimilation capabilities.
