Abstract:

Electrical muscle stimulation EMS is used to strengthen muscles in rehabilitation of patients of athletes. Torque generation from evoked muscle contractions can equal torque from maximal voluntary muscle contractions. Voluntary muscle straining or an inflated anti-G suit increase the arterial blood pressure Bp and give a pilot G-protection during increased Gz. This work was designed to determine if arterial blood pressure increases during normal gravity conditions with lower body electrical muscle stimulation. The intention was also to develop an efficient and comfortable elastic suit with new mesh electrodes sewn into the suit
