The overall objective of this project was to investigate the use of broadband photonic techniques, initially developed in the context of ultrafast optics, for synthesis and processing of ultrabroadband radio-frequency RF electromagnetic signals, with an emphasis of signals beyond the speed and bandwidth limits of direct electronic solutions. Although much of the work performed falls into FCCs 3.1-10.6 GHz UWB band, our methods are directly applicable also to higher frequency bands, with results demonstrated up to 50 GHz.
