Abstract:
The Air Force Research Laboratory provides the science and technology ST vision, leadership, and products that enable the United States Air Force USAF to accomplish its mission to fly, fight, and win in air, space, and cyberspace. The dependence on cyberspace of US weapon systems, critical infrastructure, financial institutions, and our way of life creates an imperative to operate freely in this domain. The USAF vision of global vigilance, global reach, and global power depends vitally on the ability to dominate cyberspace through integrated defensive and offensive operations across blue, red, and gray cyber systems, as well as across the global cyberspace commons. This article describes an ST perspective on cyber operations within the focus necessary to operate in a contested cyber domain and to assure critical military missions in land, sea, air, and space against threats in cyberspace.
