Abstract:
There have been numerous studies, papers, and articles written about women in the Army or about women in the armed services, one of the most recent of which is by Martin Blumenson and appeared in the May 1979 issue of Army. However, there are few records of personal experience. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to record my observations and opinions resulting from 22 months experience as battalion commander of a unit with 85 to 100 female soldiers assigned out of a total strength of 207 enlisted.
