Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to continue to build a capability for PEO Soldier to assess the platoon level effectiveness of different soldier equipment architectures using distributed simulation. Three combat models - IWARS, OneSAF, and COMBAT XXI - are integrated via the High-Level Architecture HLA in order to provide this capability. After last years effort focused on developing and demonstrating a runtime interaction between IWARS and OneSAF using Research Development and Engineering Commands RDECOM Modeling Architecture for Technology, Research, and Experimentation MATREX architecture, this years effort focused on fully developing that architecture for command and control modeling. The resulting federation was able to leverage situation awareness of simulated entities in order to coordinate fires and maneuver in support of a dismounted mission. In addition a refines systems engineering approach to federation development is proposed using this PEO Soldier federation as an example.
