Abstract:
This thesis will examine the linkage between the lack of a comprehensive plan for war termination and strategic communications in Iraq before, during, and following Operation Desert Storm and the Al-Qaeda terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, against the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. This is meant as a historic case study and cause and effect analysis to demonstrate to future campaign planners the criticality in considering the numerous echelons of effects a major theater military operation can inflict and examine methods for how those effects can be mitigated early on within the planning of an operation.
