Abstract:

In a study of the United States militarys current methods of message communication, it is important to understand its long and constantly evolving relationship with the press in the U.S., and its traditional means of disseminating information. In addition, an understanding of public relations practices and methods of communicating is necessary. This chapter will examine the history and evolution of the relationship between the U.S. military and the press, and provide a brief overview of public relations practices and use of evolving technology as a means of information dissemination.
