Testing was performed to determine the concentrations of total suspended particulate TSP and particulate matter smaller than 10 microns PM1O during a typical sandblasting operation. Testing was conducted at the Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation Norshipco located in Norfolk, Virginia, on July 14-15, 1992 under the direction of Thomas Beacham of Norshipco. Sampling was conducted by Patrick Slater and Everett Poore of Industrial Environmental Analysts, Inc. IEA Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Testing was observed by Ms. Lural Driver and Mr. Roy Huntley of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency EPA. Gravimetric analysis was performed by Clean Air Engineering CAE Analytical Services. Polarized Light Microscopy PLM and Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy SEM-EDX analyses were performed by IEA, Inc., North Billerica, Massachusetts.
