Navier-Stokes Simulation of Plume/Vertical Launching System Interaction Flowfields

The application of Navier-Stokes methodology to the analysis of Vertical Launching Systemmissile exhaust plume interactions is discussed. The complex three-dimensional flowfields related to the Vertical Launching System VLS are computed utilizing the PARCHRNP Navier-Stokes code. PARCHRNP solves the fully-coupled system of fluid, two-equation turbulence kE and chemical species equations via the implicit, approximately factored, Beam-Warming algorithm utilizing a block-tridiagonal inversion procedure.
