Abstract:

This report results from a contract tasking Nikolaevs Institute of Inorganic Chemistry as follows Two strategies have historically been used to reduce corrosion in AA s 1 barrier coatings and 2 electrochemically-active corrosion-inhibitors. Barriers are formed from materials impervious to the penetrations or migrations of such corrosion-inducing species as chloride ions, oxygen, water, andor free electrons. Plasma oxidation would provide an impervious coating on the surface of specific aircraft parts thus enhancing their ability to prevent corrosion from beginning.
