Abstract:
Future space-based platforms can and will benefit from the implementation of photonics in both analog and digital subsystems. This paper discusses the potential applications and advantages of photonics to space-based platforms. These applications include radiofrequency distribution links, true time delay, local oscillator generation, photonically implemented signal processing, and high speed analog-to-digital signal conversion.
