Molecular Effects of I3C/DIM in Prostate Cancer Cells

Our previous data have shown that 13C inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis in cancer cells. We have also observed a reduction in the activated Akt and the activity of NF-kappaB in prostate cancer cells treated with I3C. By gene transfection and kinase assay, we have found that the inhibition of NF-kappaB by I3C and DIM was partly mediated through the inactivation of Akt. 13C and DIM inhibited phosphorylation of Akt, inactivated NF-KB, and regulated the expression of genes related to cell growth and apoptosis.
