Abstract:

The nanometer dispersion of inorganic ultra-thin layered fillers in polymers have been proven a very successful route to concurrently enhance several properties of the polymer matrix, and result in multifunctional nanocomposite materials. Understanding the structureproperty relations in polymerclay nanocomposites is of great importance in designing materials with desired sets of properties. Along these lines, critical overview is attempted on the physical and molecular origins of material properties enhancements in polymerinorganic hybrid nanocomposites, in the context of designing a multifunctional composite.
