This report describes several ways to generate a chirp signal for the Seamap-C side-scan sonar system and then to remove the chirp signal from the field data to produce high-resolution sea floor images. Synthetic data are generated using one of several chirps according to the system specifications, data collection methods, and preliminary processing of the Seamap-C system. These synthetic data files, as well as field data, are read by the deconvolution program, which removes the known source signal. Several chirp signals are compared to demonstrate the tradeoffs between resolution and noise levels.
