An internal, three-component LDV system was used to measure the flow ahead of the rotor and inside the nozzle of a waterjet installed in a model of the RV Athena hull as part of a program to develop performance prediction methods for marine waterjet propulsion systems These tests revealed the flow structure within the pump, and allowed the calculation of terms required for an analysis of the pump performance The pump was tested at three underway speeds at the self-propulsion point and at two bollard conditions.
