Abstract:

The eve of the 21st century marks more than a chronological milestone. Changes in technology and fundamental restructuring and downsizing of the military call for fresh thinking about how the military accomplishes its goals and objectives. The challenge is to adapt and use organizations, processes, and rapidly changing technologies to achieve greater effectiveness and quality at reduced cost. Organizations that master change will continue to improve their operational effectiveness, while those failing to reengineer their practices and policies will gradually loose effectiveness. The Logistics Analysis to Improve Deployability LOG-AID program is sponsored by AFRL to enable the Air Force to monitor change in information technology. The objective of the program is to improve the Air Force deployment capability through a process-driven approach that allows for technologies to be applied smoothly and institutionalizes continued process improvement and technology application.
