This regulation prescribes policies for preparing and using medical reports and records in accordance with North Atlantic Treaty Organization standardization agreements NATO STANAGs 2348 and 2132 and quadripartite standardization agreement QSTAG 470. The purpose of a medical record is to provide a complete medical and dental history for patient care, medicolegal support, research, and education. A medical record also provides a means of communication where necessary to fulfill other Army functions for example, identification of remains.
