Abstract:

A preliminary version of a system evaluation questionnaire was trialed concurrent with a mission management system MMS concept demonstrator test during June 2000. The questionnaire was designed to examine usability and interface issues relating to the design of the systems or tools, and to provide suggestions for future iterations of the systems. The returned questionnaires were examined for both the system-related information, and the content and style of the questions themselves. Although some useful information was gathered using this questionnaire, the author concludes that such questionnaire methods should be combined with for example behavioural observations in order to provide a more complete picture of optimal system design and user training for the human-machine context.
