Abstract:

This study will attempt to analyze civil military relations in Argentina since 1983, using the Trinitarian paradigm laid down by Clausswitz. Conflicts and disagreements will be explained, external and internal factors that troubled the link between the civilian administration and the military will be sorted out. While a proper and balanced relationship within the trinity might be the answer for an improvement in the future, several other factors must be included in order to attain success. They are the lobbies or power groups, such as the human rights organizations that interact within democracies, the media, as a power that is not always impartial and the fact that a professional military must develop a new way to communicate with society. Failure to address these factors may endanger what otherwise is today considered the proper relationship within a mature democracy.
