This Pilot Test Work Plan presents the scope of an in situ bioventing pilot test for treatment of fuel contaminated soils at the Aircraft Ground Equipment AGE Maintenance Area lRP Site 11 at Beale Air Force Base, Yuba County, California Beale AFB which is approximately 10 miles east of Marysville and 130 miles northeast of San Francisco. The location of Installation Restoration Program IRP sites at Beale AFB, including Site 11, is shown in Figure 1.1. The pilot test has three primary objectives 1 to assess the potential for supplying oxygen throughout the fuel hydrocarbon contaminated soil zone, 2 to determine the rate at which indigenous microorganisms will degrade the fuel in the soil when stimulated by oxygen rich soil gas, and 3 to evaluate the potential for sustaining these rates of fuel biodegradation until the contamination is remediated below regulatory standards.
