Laser photofragmentationfragment detection techniques utilize one or multiple lasers for photolysis of the analyte species and spectroscopic detection of the characteristic photofragments. Fragment detection techniques include laser-induced fluorescence, photoionization, prompt emission, stimulated emission, and laser ionization recombination emission spectroscopies. Applications for chemical analysis of the gas phase has been performed by the detection of atomic and molecular fragments. Recent reports on photofragmentationfragment detection approaches are presented, and the outlook for future applications is discussed.
