Cursory study of war gaming quickly reveals that one of its central problems is the conflict between the requirements of realism in play and the need for rapid and simple assessment technique. This thesis investigates war gaming methodologies with the purpose of providing new techniques that will increase realism, speed up and simplify assessment, or do both.
