Abstract:
Dredging is defined as the removal of soil or material from the bottom of a rivet, lake, or ocean harbor. Dredges are the machines used for this purpose and consist of powerfill hoisting or suction equipment mounted on barge-like floats. These machines are used to deepen or widen waterways, to reclaim land, to build dikes or foundations, and to mine alluvial deposits of precious metals.
