Value-Added Networks provide communication of electronic data between DoD and its trading partners. Each Value-Added Network must be certified by the Government. Twenty-five Value-Added Networks had been certified and fourteen Value-Added Networks were awaiting certification as of January 1996. The Defense Information Systems Agency is responsible for certifying Value-Added Networks for all Government organizations, including DoD.
