Abstract:
This report discusses a Broadband Bionic Sonar System and a signal processing technique for detection and identification of underwater targets. Since the sonar and radar target echoes are the solutions to the same Helmholtz Equation in their respective media, an Ultra Wideband Radar System can also be developed for target detection and identification base on the same principles and signal processing techniques. In the bionic sonar system with the resonance detection technique for detection and identification of underwater targets, it appears to mimic a dolphins andor a bats acoustic sensory systems. It is conceivable that an Ultra-Wideband Radar System of the same detection technique can also be developed.
