Theoretical procedures were developed, computer programs were written, and systematic calculations were performed to investigate 1 the validity of van de Hulsts localization principle for focused laser beam resonance excitation of spherical and nonspherical particles and 2 the effects of laser beam induced electromagnetic stresses on droplet geometry.
