Abstract:

This special report summarizes selected research and development RD products produced between 1985 - 1998 by the U.S. Army Research Institute ARI for the Armys Reserve Component RC i.e., National Guard and Reserve. The product summaries cover the areas of individual, crew, unit, and battle staff training, distance learning, personnel turbulence, what we know from deployments, and the associated payoff, all keyed to the specific RC operational readiness constraints e.g., training time, geographical dispersion, personnel turbulence that each product was designed to address. The providing this information, we hope to reveal not only what ARI has done up until now, but also the scope of what it is capable of doing in the future, to support RC RD product needs of the 21st Century.
