Abstract:

The performance of an infrared passive polarization sensor for discrimination and tracking applications has been extensively studied. In this report we discuss the concept and feasibility of using a circular polarization sensor to detect a sea-skimming cruise missile in a solar corridor. For 1 shipboard sensor, and 2 interceptorhelicopter board sensor, the circular polarization reflection-reflection signatures for a cylindrical target above water plane with both flat and rough sea surface are studied quantitatively.
