Abstract:
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division has established a long range, real-time link between the FA-18 Weapons System Support Facility WSSF at China Lake, CA and the AIM-120 Hardware in the Loop HWIL laboratory at Point Mugu, CA. The link was established in response to a fleet demand for information on the total weapons system performance of the Hornet and AIM-120 sub-systems in an electronic jamming environment, since AIM-120 performance is very dependent on the quality of the guidance data link provided by the host aircraft. In an effort to minimize costly flight testing, the link concept was developed to obtain actual vice simulated aircraft radar performance and data link updates in order to more accurately assess overall performance of the aircraftmissile system.
