The goal of our study is to identify the signaling pathway by which the Drosophila gene Notch controls cell morphology, and to distinguish it from the pathway by which Notch controls cell identity. The specific third year goals of the project were I to investigate biochemically the interaction between NOTCH protein and the axonal signaling protein DISABLED and 2 to further characterize the genetic interaction between Notch and abl mutations as a prelude to performing a genetic screen for new elements of the Notchabl pathway.
