The highlights of this report were a series of papers on such topics as computers and microelectronics. Japan recently developed the worlds fastest Josephson-junction computer. This new type of computer is the worlds first to realize a speed of one billion instructions per second, a speed about 15 times that of a mainframe based on traditional semiconductor devices. The report also described high performance supercomputers used for ultra high speed science and technology calculations. Along with issues on computer, the report comprises the area of microelectronics, new plasma etching technology and GaAs technology.
