Abstract:

The Air Force and the Navy plan to spend 4 billion on a new aircraft, referred to as the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System JPATS, to train entry level pilots how to fly. We reviewed 1 the services calculations of the quantity of JPATS aircraft needed to meet training requirements, 2 the impact of the Department of Defenses DOD procurement schedule on the aircrafts unit price, and 3 service efforts to design the JPATS cockpit to accommodate female pilots.
