The purpose of the study was to determine the genomic and nongenomic mechanism of action of various analogues of vitamin D on resting zone RC and growth zone GC rat costochondral chondrocyte differentiation and proliferation in vitro. This study is intended to provide insight into how modifications of the A-ring and other structural modifications of vitamin D molecule affect the biological activity of these secosteroids.
