The effect of chemical exposure from DoD critical fluids and contaminantsdecontaminates on the degradation of material properties is important to material evaluation and selection for military products. A set of enhancements to a traditional chemical material compatibility database is described. These improvements were required to support the early selection of chemically resistant materials in a concurrent engineering environment. This initial phase of developing an integrated chemical material compatibility system included organization of tests into a comprehensive scheme test selection for the initial screening tests in the scheme the increased standardization of test procedures and reports required to support database queries and the control of data set flow from the test laboratory directly to the database.
