Abstract:
In this report two methods for measuring the detonation pressure are compared. These methods are Shock Induced Polarisation SIP and a method that uses the Fabry Perot Velocity Interferometer System F-PVIS. To compare the accuracy of both methods, they are applied simultaneously. The detonation pressure that is calculated from the shock velocity in the SIP measurement will have a maximum error of approximately 16. With the F-PVIS both shock velocity and particle velocity are measured. The detonation pressure can be calculated from both values resulting in a maximum error of approximately 13.5 and approximately 12.5. The accuracy of this method will increase when the quality of the streak record is improved.
