This project emphasizes the development and evaluation of analytic methods for the solution of fracture mechanics problems as related to aircraft structures. Some of these methods are finite and boundary element methods, singularhybrid finite elements, alternating method, and path independent and domain independent integrals. When these methods are applied to various cases of aircraft structural problems, predictions of crack growth and fatigue life can be made. The final report describes these analytical methods as applied to various cases of aircraft structural problems, including the evaluation of composite patch repairs to existing cracks.
