Abstract:

Requirements for detailed test planning, facility and personnel safety, and security requirements to be followed in using the Tri-Service Thermal Radiation Test Facility TRTF are described in this technical support document. Details of proposed testing including the anticipated number of tests, requested instrumentation, required thermal, aerodynamic, and mechanical load test loads, and potential hazards are addressed. Standard operating procedures for personnel safety during occupation and testing in the TRTF are also detailed. Requirements for reviewing all Material Safety Data Sheets prior to testing, indoctrination of all personnel in safe operating procedures of thermal energy sources and high pressure gases. Evacuation alarms, emergency exits and evacuation procedures are also described. Personal protection, i.e. safety glasses, other eye and ear protection, protective clothing, are also discussed. Required TRTF visit request forms for both unclassified testing and classified materials testing, and the procedures to be followed are also contained herein.
