The Gulf Coast Region Maritime Technology Center GCRMTC was initiated September 26, 1994 and has been designated as a Navy Center of Excellence in Advanced Marine Technology. The Center issued a second solicitation for Concept Proposals in August 1995 from the marine industry and from university researchers. Based on peer reviews, GovernmentIndustry Advisory Board GIAB recommendations and Government Program Manager GPM approval, three requests for proposals were issued in late April 1996. The proposals submitted in response to our three RFPs were peer reviewed, ranked, and will be submitted to the GPM for approval for funding. A third solicitation for Concept Proposals both internal and external was issued in January 1996 and a fourth solicitation internal only was issued in July 1996. The GCRMTC initiated the Environmental Resources and Information Center ERIC and the Simulation-based Design Center SBDC in 1995. ERIC is fully operational, and its operations and services are fully detailed on the World Wide Web. The SBDC is collocated at the Orange Site and is fully operational.
