This research program had two main objectives First, to improve the understanding of the physical and chemical mechanisms of flame suppression by pyrotechnically generated aerosols particularly the aerosols generated by Spectrex Fire Extinguishments SFE A, B, and C manufactured by Spectrex, Inc. Second to investigate the heat release associated with aerosol generation and design a hand thrown cannister incorporating 500 grams of the pyrotechnique material.
