This final report summarizes the research carried out by our research group concerned with the development of a numerical approach for simulating the flows through and expanding from low-power hydrogen arcjets. In Section 1, we describe the development of a particle-based Monte Carlo approach for simulating the necessary collision and plasma effects that occur in these electric propulsion devices. In Section II, we describe an extensive study to make comparison between our model predictions and existing experimental data. It is concluded that the Monte Carlo approach provides an accurate means for simulating the flow inside of the nozzle of the arcjet offering the potential to improve arcjet performance. It is also concluded that accurate Monte Carlo simulation of the arcjet plumes offers the potential to assess accurately integration of arcjets with real spacecraft geometries.
