Abstract:

This development document presents the findings of an extensive study of the synthetic resin segment of the Plastics and Synthetics Industry for the purposes of developing effluent limitation guidelines, and standards of peformance for the industry to implement Sections 304, 306 and 3O7 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1972 PI 92-500. Guidelines and standards were developed for the following major products ABSSAN Acrylics Cellophane Cellulose Acetate High-Density Polyethylene Low-Density Polyethylene Nylon 6, Nylon 66 Polyester Polypropylene Polystyrene Polyvinyl acetate Polyvinyl Chloride Rayon. Effluent limitation guidelines contained herein set forth the degree of reduction of pollutions in effluent that is attainable through the application of best practicable control technology currently available BPCTCA, and the degree of reduction attainable through the application of best available technology economically achievable BATLA by existing point sources for July 1, 1977, and July 1, 1983 respectively. Standards of a available demonstrated technology BADT. AN
