Structural, Magnetic and Electrical Properties of the New Ternary CePdIn2.

CePdIn2 is found to crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Cmcm Z4 with a 4.62109 A, b 10.6942 A, and c 7.4552 A. Single crystal X- ray data were refined to R 0.0459 wR2 0.0666, with 255 independent reflections and 16 variables. The structure adopts the BRe3 structure type and is the first known Ce-containing member. Magnetic measurements indicate that CePdIn2 undergoes a ferromagnetic phase transition with a Tc near 10 K. The electrical resistivity of CePdIn2 shows metallic behavior with a small anomaly at the magnetic phase transition. jg p4
