Abstract:

This report is a users manual for REMOTE- a program used to control a Hiden Analytical Ltd. HAL quadrupole gas analyzer. This report also explains fully the capabilities of REMOTE for a prospective user. Designed for use on an IBM-PC compatible computer, REMOTE communicates with the analyzer over an RS232 communications line. The HAL analyzer can be instructed to take a predetermined set of mass spectra and store the data on disk for later analysis in a spreadsheet program. REMOTE mimics the control structure of the analyzers own software very closely. Because of this, anyone already familiar with the HAL analyzers can readily learn to use REMOTE.
