MRNMAP is the core module of the MOA-Range NOISEMAP MRNMAP program for computing noise military airspace. It is a collection of building block noise models that model the noise characteristics for the way planes fly in military airspace. There are two general representations broadly distributed operations as generally occur in MOAs and Ranges, and distributed parallel tracks as occur on MIRS and in target areas. The calculations in MRNMAP are based on a USAF dataset of measured aircraft noise levels called NOISEFILE. The program calculates standard noise metrics of Ldmmr, Ldn , CNEL, Laq, SEL, and Lmax, MR-NMAP output is in the form of tables of noise levels and a grid file that is used with NMPLOT to draw the noise contours. A companion program called MROPS MOA-Range Operations allows the user to draw the airspace, specify areas of highmediumlow activity levels, and draw specific flight tracks such as bombing runs and MIRs. This report describes the noise model and the algorithms contained in MRNMAP. A separate report, WR 94-12, Military Operating Area and Range Noise Model MRNMAP, Users Manual, gives user instructions for MROPS and MR NMAP.
